The model 255XP has now been in the market for over a year, and has received excellent reviews. This powerful 15 inch diameter capacity disc-style chipper features a 15 X 25 inch throat opening, and the largest feed system in its class! The feed system consists of (2) horizontal feed wheels that are 10-5/8 diameter X 24-1/2 inch wide, allowing for numerous piles of brush, limbs, and whole trees to be fed at one time. A wide variety of engine options from all major engine manufactures are available ranging from 114 to 215 horsepower.
A powerful feed system, along with Bandit's slide box feed system makes feeding large pieces easier, and reduces material movement in the infeed hopper. The increased opening and powerful feed system reduces the need to trim. This unit is easier to feed than other chippers in it's class and is extremely effective when it comes to chipping brush.
Like all Bandit disc-style chippers, the chipper disc sits at an approximate 45 degree angle to the flow of material. This set-up requires less energy to chip, and will chip larger diameter materials better than a drum-style chipper. They will also consume less fuel, vibrate less, throw harder, and chip larger diameter material using less horsepower.
The 255XP with engine options up to 142 horsepower comes equipped with a single 8,000 pound axle with (2) 215/75R 17.5 inch tires. For engine horsepower options above 142 horsepower tandem 7,000 pound axles with (4) 245/75R 16 inch tires are provided.
This unit has been "put into motion" by way of a Caterpillar 305CR rubber-tracked undercarriage. This option comes with a tether and a radio remote. The Model 255XP can also be equipped with a Model 50 knuckle boom loader. The loader unit is best suited for feed large piles of brush into the chipper, reducing labor and fuel costs.
